So, I recently had a stay at the Mercure, and let's just say there were some highs and lows. First off, the room was decent enough, but I did have some issues. The carpet felt like it hadn’t seen a good clean in ages – there was this lingering smell that just wasn’t pleasant. I mean, a little fresh air would have helped, but all the windows were sealed shut. And when I checked the window sills, yikes! They felt like they hadn’t been wiped down in a while. I also noticed some dustiness that made the vibe a bit off. Now, onto the shower—took me a minute to get it going at first, but once it did, the hot water pressure was pretty impressive! One of the highlights for sure. I also thought the shower facilities were equipped with some nice free toiletries, which is always a nice touch. But then there was that unfortunate ear bud in the shower, which kind of threw me off. can we talk about the bed? Super uncomfortable! The mattress felt hard, and the pillows were like sleeping on cinder blocks. I woke up with my neck and back sore—definitely not what you want after a long day. I had to chuckle at the one coffee cup in the room, though. I mean, come on, who drinks coffee alone? The mini-bar situation was a bit of a letdown too. It wasn’t fully stocked, and the fridge was noisy enough that I had to turn it off. Not exactly what you want when trying to unwind after a long day. The flat-screen TV in the room was nice when it worked, but I found that a few channels were just out. Bummer! On the plus side, the staff I interacted with were really friendly. The pool area had a great vibe, even if the water was too cold for my liking. And the dining experience? Top-notch! The dinner was amazing—absolute deliciousness on a plate. Just a shame I didn’t feel like dining in after seeing the prices. An important note: this place isn’t very accessible, which is a downside if you or someone you’re traveling with has mobility issues. My mom had a hard time navigating the bathroom setup, which had a small step up and really cramped space. I also was hoping for a bit more variety at breakfast. The continental spread was on the pricey side for what it offered. It felt like the cereal and canned fruit didn’t match the level of what I expected for the price tag. Honestly, I did appreciate the little details like the electric kettle and ironing facilities. It’s just the little things that add up, right? Just wish the common areas felt a bit less cluttered and had some sprucing up – they had this old building smell that wasn’t inviting. Would I stay again? Maybe if there were changes. But for now, I'm on the hunt for something a bit more comfortable for my next trip!
